Wednesday Mass
God. Family. St. Augustine!
“Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae...” and so the entire student body joins in reciting the Hail Holy Queen in latin at the conclusion of another Wednesday All-School Mass.
Whether Mass was held in one of the two gyms or in the chapel that formerly stood in the heart of Augustinian Hall, every Hermit, regardless of religious denomination, can recount the tradition of Wednesday Mass. St. Augustine welcomed all kinds of people to his table because he believed that all of humanity, whether one was a believer or nonbeliever, was actively searching for God.
Every Wednesday, the entire student body at St. Augustine Prep attends Mass, where the core virtues of Unitas (Unity), Veritas (Truth), and Caritas (Love) are celebrated. This tradition helps to foster a sense of community and spiritual growth, ensuring that our environment aligns with the vision St. Augustine himself would have wanted. Through these weekly gatherings, students deepen their faith and commitment to these essential values, strengthening the bonds of the Hermit Brotherhood.
We may not all be Christian or Roman Catholic, but we can all be Augustinian!
Student Roles at Wednesday Mass include Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Prayer Leaders, and Acolytes for Mass and other liturgical events.
