Cross Country Head Coach: Kevin Richards - coach.richards@hermits.com St Augustine is close enough to the Atlantic Ocean to support an established surf team. Since 2011, the surf team has produced students to continue on with competitive surfing in college, excel in the surfing industry, and enjoy the solitude of a sport like no other. In 2013, our freshly added team earned an NSSA Northeast High School Title. Recently, our 2023 & 2024 team placed 5th & 6th. Original head coach Kevin Morris was recently inducted into the NJ Surfing Hall of Fame. He led the team to our first Northeast Title. Since then, Kevin Richards, a nominee of the NJ Surfing Hall of Fame, has taken over as head coach. He is a nationally recognized surfer from Ocean City, NJ. As a 2-time High School Surfing Champion, he is able to relate to the competitive mindset needed to succeed. Kevin is involved with all levels of coaching, from beginners through advanced, allowing anyone to join the team and progress. His past travels help him share knowledge of all ocean conditions with the team, which gives them the confidence and understanding in a very unpredictable playing field.
