St. Augustine Prep Launches IEE Fellows Program

For nearly 70 years, St. Augustine Prep has prepared young men to lead with integrity, pursue academic excellence, and serve others through the Augustinian tradition. This fall, the school is building on that legacy with the launch of one of its most ambitious academic initiatives to date: the Innovation, Experiential Learning & Entrepreneurship (IEE) Fellows Program.

Designed as a selective two-year fellowship, the IEE Fellows Program provides students with opportunities to learn beyond the traditional classroom through mentorship, experiential learning, entrepreneurship, and leadership development. More than an academic distinction, the program is intended to help students develop the skills, mindset, and confidence to thrive in college, their careers, and their communities.

The inaugural cohort, which will begin this fall, includes just 10 students—five rising juniors and five rising seniors—selected through a competitive application process.

Preparing Students for a Changing World

Success in today’s world requires more than strong grades alone. Employers, colleges, and communities increasingly seek leaders who can think critically, adapt to change, collaborate with others, and solve meaningful problems.

The IEE Fellows Program was created with that future in mind.

Throughout the two-year fellowship, students will engage with distinguished mentors, participate in nationally recognized enrichment opportunities, and pursue projects that connect classroom learning with real-world experiences. By combining innovation, experiential learning, entrepreneurship, and leadership development, the program encourages students to become thoughtful problem-solvers who are prepared to make a meaningful impact wherever life leads them.

Grounded in the Augustinian Tradition

While the fellowship embraces forward-thinking educational experiences, its foundation remains firmly rooted in the values that have defined St. Augustine Prep for generations.

Truth, unity, love, and a commitment to the school's Augustinian mission remain at the heart of the program.

One of the fellowship’s defining traditions asks each student selected to sign the school’s version of Benjamin Franklin’s famous “pay it forward” letter—a symbolic commitment to invest in future generations of Hermits through mentorship, gratitude, and service. It reflects the belief that leadership is measured not simply by achievement, but by one’s willingness to help others succeed.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The IEE Fellows Program is designed to complement the rigorous academic experience already offered at St. Augustine Prep by providing students with opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.

Fellows will collaborate with mentors representing a variety of professional fields, receive support for specialized projects, participate in nationally recognized enrichment experiences, and engage in discussions and experiences that challenge them to think creatively and lead with purpose.

The fellowship also provides financial support to help students pursue these opportunities, ensuring they have access to experiences that broaden their perspectives and encourage lifelong learning.

A Lasting Investment in Students

Admission to the IEE Fellows Program is intentionally selective.

Students chosen for the inaugural cohort were evaluated not only on academic achievement, but also on intellectual curiosity, adaptability, initiative, character, and leadership potential. As the program’s first Fellows, they will help establish the culture, traditions, and future direction of an initiative designed to benefit generations of Hermits to come.

As St. Augustine Prep approaches its 70th anniversary in 2029, the IEE Fellows Program reflects the school’s continued commitment to preparing young men not simply for college, but for lives of leadership, innovation, and servant leadership.
