St. Augustine Prep Baseball Captures South Jersey Non-Public A Championship, Advances to State Final

St. Augustine Prep Baseball is heading back to the state title game.

Behind a dominant complete-game performance from senior Alex Weingartner '26, the Hermits defeated Christian Brothers Academy, 6-0, on Thursday afternoon to claim the South Jersey Non-Public A Championship.

Weingartner continued his remarkable senior season, tossing a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts while also contributing offensively with two hits, two stolen bases, and a run scored. The victory came just two days after the Penn State commit and coveted MLB prospect delivered a walk-off grand slam to send the Hermits into the sectional final.

The championship marks the program's 12th sectional title and fourth in the last six seasons.

St. Augustine took an early lead in the first inning and never looked back. John Eddis added an RBI in the third inning, while Brady Jackson and DJ Lloyd each delivered key run-scoring hits to help extend the Hermits' advantage. The defense was equally impressive, turning in several highlight-reel plays behind Weingartner to preserve the shutout.

With the victory, St. Augustine improves to 22-7 on the season and advances to the NJSIAA Non-Public A State Championship Game.

The Hermits will face Delbarton on Wednesday, June 10, at Rutgers University as they compete for a state title.
