Hermits Swimming Wins Fourth Straight State Championship, Caps Undefeated Run

NEPTUNE, N.J. — The St. Augustine Prep swimming program has reached new heights, capturing its fourth consecutive state championship and cementing its place in school history.

With a commanding 100–70 victory over Delbarton in the Non-Public state final on February 25 at the Neptune Aquatic Center, the Hermits completed a perfect 9–0 season and extended their dominance to an extraordinary four-year undefeated run, totaling 40 consecutive victories.

The championship marks the 10th state title in program history—and notably, the first time any athletic program at St. Augustine Prep has secured four straight state championships.

Led by Coach Nick Fondacaro '15, standout performances from Luke Bickett and Christian Shenk each claimed two individual titles. Bickett took first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500 freestyle, while Shenk delivered victories in both the 200 and 100 freestyle events.

Additional key contributions came from Alex Morrison, who captured the 100 breaststroke, and Frank Ferzetti, who led a pivotal 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 backstroke—further showcasing the Hermits’ depth and dominance in the pool.

In total, the Hermits won eight of the meet’s 11 events, including two of the three relays, sealing a decisive team performance on the state’s biggest stage.
