Fine Arts Student Honors Prep History Through Original Oil Painting

Richland, NJ — St. Augustine Preparatory School is proud to recognize senior Fine Arts student and Art Club member Raylen Weaver for his original oil painting of the Allegrini Monastery, a building deeply rooted in the history and mission of the Prep.

Raylen recently shared his artwork with members of the Augustinian community. He is pictured alongside Head of School Fr. Robert J. Murray, O.S.A., Fr. Devlin, O.S.A., Prior of the Allegrini Monastery, and Fr. Burrascano, O.S.A., Assistant to the Head of School for Mission & Ministry.

A Building at the Heart of Prep History

The Allegrini Monastery holds special significance at St. Augustine Prep. It served as the original school building when the Prep was founded in 1959 and today is home to the resident Augustinian Friars who continue to serve the school community.

The monastery is named in honor of Fr. Angelo M. Allegrini, O.S.A., who helped establish St. Augustine Prep as one of his first major achievements after being named Commissary Provincial of the Vice Province in 1958. His leadership played a foundational role in shaping the Augustinian presence that continues to guide the school today.

Fine Arts Rooted in Mission

Raylen’s painting reflects the mission of the Prep’s Fine Arts program, which encourages students to develop their artistic skills while engaging thoughtfully with the school’s history, values, and Augustinian identity. Through hands-on creative work, students are invited to explore how faith, tradition, and personal expression intersect.

St. Augustine Prep is proud of the many talented students within its Fine Arts program and grateful for the faculty who help connect student creativity with the Prep’s enduring history and mission.
