Father/Son Communion Mass & Breakfast Continues a Cherished Prep Tradition

Fathers, father figures, and sons from across the St. Augustine Prep community gathered on Sunday, March 9 for the school’s annual Father/Son Communion Mass & Breakfast, a longstanding tradition that brings Prep families together for prayer, reflection, and fellowship.

This year’s gathering featured remarks from Mr. Ray D’Amico, recently retired Prep faculty member and longtime Head Coach of Hermits Rowing. Drawing from the words of St. Catherine of Siena — “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire” — Mr. D’Amico reflected on the responsibility fathers share in helping guide their sons as they grow into young men.

A proud father of Hermits Alumni Matthew ’06 and RJ ’15, Mr. D’Amico spoke about how the Prep’s emphasis on educating the Christian Gentleman and instilling Augustinian values helped shape his sons during their time on campus and continues to influence them today.

The annual Father/Son Communion Mass & Breakfast remains an important tradition at St. Augustine Prep, bringing families together while reinforcing the shared commitment to forming young men of character, leadership, and purpose.
