Hermits Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026 to be Honored on March 21

St. Augustine Prep will celebrate the Hermits Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2026 during the annual Hall of Fame Dinner on Saturday, March 21, in Rodio Gymnasium.

This year’s class represents decades of excellence across Hermits Athletics, highlighting standout performances, championship moments, and individuals whose contributions helped shape the proud tradition of Prep athletics.

The Class of 2026 includes athletes from nine different sports, a historic championship team, the recipient of the Paul A. Rodio Excellence in Coaching Award, and the Hermit Pride Award.

Athlete Inductees

Ed Charlton ’11 – Baseball

The 2011 Press of Atlantic City and Daily Journal Player of the Year, Charlton led the Hermits both offensively and on the mound to the program’s first state championship in baseball history. Following his time at the Prep, he starred at NJIT, where he finished his career with a .303 batting average and 127 RBI before continuing his professional career in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

Kevin Crowe ’08 – Ice Hockey

Crowe scored the game-winning goal that secured the Hermits’ 2007 state championship, completing a historic undefeated and untied season — still the only such season by a state champion in New Jersey hockey history. He went on to play in the North American Hockey League before continuing his career at Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Anthony Dagrosa ’00 – Soccer

One of the most accomplished goalkeepers in program history, Dagrosa won 49 games during his career and recorded 30.5 clean sheets. He helped lead the Hermits to the 1999 Cape-Atlantic League championship and the South Jersey Non-Public “B” title.

Pete Dandrea ’09 – Football

A senior captain who helped lead the Hermits to a 10–1 season — still the most wins in program history — Dandrea played a key role in securing the program’s first state playoff victory in 13 years before continuing his career at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dan Deal ’11 – Rugby

One of the early pioneers of Hermits Rugby, Deal went on to play collegiately at St. Joseph’s University, where he served as team captain and competed in the Collegiate Rugby Championship. He remains active in the sport as a member of the Schuylkill River Rugby Club.

Chad Flexon ’03 – Lacrosse

The first Hermits lacrosse player to compete at the collegiate level, Flexon went on to play at King’s College before returning to the Prep sidelines as a coach. Since 2008, he has served as defensive coordinator under Head Coach and Hermits Hall of Famer, JC Valore.

Jack Lindeman ’07 – Crew

Lindeman represented Team USA at the World Rowing Junior Championships before rowing collegiately at Princeton University. After surviving a lightning strike in 2008, he returned to the sport and later competed for Cambridge University in the prestigious University Boat Race.

Frank McGrath ’04 – Wrestling

McGrath compiled a 115–20 record during his Hermits career, winning multiple district and regional championships and placing fourth in the state in 2004. He later continued his success at Gannon University, where he finished his collegiate career with an 80–25 record.

Isaiah Morton ’11 – Basketball

Morton remains the Prep’s all-time leading scorer with 2,289 career points. He led the Hermits to the 2011 state championship and scored 30 points in the title game before continuing his collegiate career at Marist and Cal State San Bernardino.

Harvey Thompson ’87 – Basketball

One of the early stars of Hermits basketball, Thompson became the second player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points — doing so before the three-point line was introduced in New Jersey high school basketball. He went on to play collegiately at Wichita State and the University of Hawaii.

Paul A. Rodio Excellence in Coaching Award

Tim Fingerhut – Ice Hockey

Fingerhut led the Hermits hockey program for 16 seasons, compiling a 174–146–39 record. His first season at the helm resulted in a historic 23–0–0 campaign and the only undefeated, untied state championship in New Jersey hockey history.

Hermit Pride Award

Dr. Thomas Dwyer

Founder of Premier Orthopaedics, Dr. Dwyer has been a longstanding supporter of Hermits Athletics and St. Augustine Prep. His partnership with the school has helped provide medical care for Hermits athletes while also creating opportunities for students interested in careers in medicine and health services.

Team Inductee

2004 St. Augustine Prep Basketball Team

The 2004 Hermits finished 26–4 and captured the program’s third state championship with a 69–64 overtime victory over Seton Hall Prep. The team also secured the Cape-Atlantic League championship, becoming the first — and still the only — basketball program to win four overall CAL titles since the league championship game was introduced in 1992.

The Hermits Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner will take place Saturday, March 21 in Rodio Gymnasium.
