College Profile
Academic Program
Saint Augustine Prep offers college preparation through a four-year course of study that encompasses humanities, arts and sciences. Classes are offered on two levels: Rigorous and Honors/Advanced Placement. Dual credit is available in some upper level courses through Seton Hall University. Entrance into the Honors/AP courses is competitive. Students must have exhibited superior work on the Rigorous level and must have teacher approval to select an Honors/AP course. Since the availability of these classes is limited, entrance is also subject to scheduling.
Students at the Prep are required to take six academic subjects in their freshman year and seven academic classes in each of the ensuing years. These must include but are not limited to the following:
| Religion | English | Mathematics | History | Lab Science | Foreign Language |
| 4 Years | 4 Years | 4 Years | 3 Years | 3 Years | 2 Years |
Grading System
As of September 2002, grades were given in numeric form. Minimum passing grade is 65. Honors/AP classes are not weighted. St. Augustine Prep does not rank its students. Since the student body is comprised of selective students studying a rigorous curriculum, class rank is not an accurate measure of the student¹s achievement or an accurate means of assessing college success.
